HERE’S WHY:

We require a minimum purchase of 4 silkie pullets to ensure they have a proper flock for companionship - security- and well being. Silkies are not like standard breeds. Silkies are gentle, social birds, that do poorly in very small groups, so this policy helps set them up for success. We have had two silkie groups for 5+ years. The colors range greatly - they are absolutely lovely!

*Most have the traditional silkie feathers, but sometimes - some frizzles, some satins, and showgirls!

They’re very calm - and quiet so a slightly larger group helps them feel secure. They will huddle together for warmth - and bond as a group. They do not roost like other chicken breeds!

They do not scratch like other breeds either!

Regular care includes: toe nail trimming at least 2-3x a year. hair trimming around the eyes (4-6) mo. so they can see properly - and make sure their feathers around their vent don’t cake up. Occasional probiotics and prebiotics are beneficial for all poultry.
