As daylight hours increase - so will the hens egg production! We do not add light to the coops - the hens get a natural break. Our eggs are all hand gathered, marked with pencil, and saved fresh for customers. Each year - we have to make careful selections - good temperament, type, and egg color in our breed stock. Every year - we are not open for sales October - December. That is our time to look at pullets, NPIP testing, flock decisions, harvest, and plan out the next year. We value happy birds - and don’t like cages much - so different groups get to explore the yard and gardens on different days. We are simply offering the best of what we have - best eggs in the box - sharing with poultry enthusiasts - that want to give our birds a good spoiled life.

Hatching Eggs: Two sizes available - half dozen, and dozen for most. See the price list below - PER ORDER. Each order comes with bonus egg/s! We do our very best to package the eggs.

Shipping Eggs: We ship hatching eggs across the United States, and chicks are local pickup only in Westport, MA. 2026 UPDATE: WE CAN ONLY SHIP 2 DOZEN PER PACKAGE. Kindly, place a second order if you’d like more, as it will have a separate tracking number. Yes, we can ship two packages the same day! Shipping Cost is $40 for up to a dozen, and $60 for more than a dozen. Eggs are shipped in custom cut egg foam, and all double boxed, and come with hatch tips. AT CHECKOUT, THE CUSTOMER MUST select the correct shipping option or will be emailed + invoiced for the remaining fee, which will delay the filing of the order - since another step was added.

At Checkout: If you have “do not ship -or- do not ship before dates” - add that to the notes at checkout.

Local Pickup (eggs, chicks, pullets): Has always been an option for hatching eggs - just make sure you select it at checkout. There isn’t a ship option - for chicks - to even select.

We begin shipping in February - and set our first eggs in February (most March). We fill orders, based on order number - availability from the flock- and weather! Eggs ship February - September based on order number. Most orders will be filled March - June when the birds are in high laying gear.

Pre-order Placed: Once your eggs ship you receive an order fulfillment email from us (ship days: Monday and Tuesday), with tracking from USPS. The eggs spend 2-3-4 days in transit.

Local Chicks: We already have batches planned for 2026! Here’s how it works - You place the order for chicks - we hatch March - June. We contact via email - following the order to see which pickup dates work for you - before we set the batch! Simply - plan ahead if you want chicks or pullets - they have to be hatched. Pullet orders - minimum of 2. Chick orders - minimum of four. The farm is not open to the public - All pickups are by scheduled - appointment only.

Pullets + Cockerels: For 2026, Splash + Blue Ameraucana, Delaware, (4) Silkies - 10-14 weeks - for Summer 2026 pickup. These offers usually sell out first.

Customer Purchase Agreement: Please read- prior to ordering with Open Gate - as we require all customers to now - check off at checkout - that they read + agree.
